Nice and interesting but very long walk for the hot Arizona Werther's
The safari was amazing
Kids will surely enjoy it. You will surely spend 5 hours. If you are planning, plan for the whole day.
I went on a weekend. It wasn't super crowded. No wait to get in. The restrooms were clean.
I love that as long as you have your wristband you can leave and come back within the same day.
It's a lot of walking to see not a lot of the animals. Some were in their habitats out of view and some habitats had no occupants. That was disappointing. Thankfully they have frequent free shuttles to help with the long walks.
The bbq brisket sandwich was super tender and delicious! And the price was good.
The tiger splash was fun. I missed the event where you get to pet different animals. Outside of the reptile house there's a beautiful bird named Apache. If you speak to him using his name he will say "hi" or "hello". We loved him!
The highlight of the visit is the safari tour where you get to feed the giraffes. I love that they come so close to you. Very beautiful animals! Unfortunately you have to resist the urge to pet them. The safari tour was shorter than expected but the giraffes made up for that.
Over all I do feel that the price of admission is a little over priced. You can see way more animals for cheaper at the World Wildlife Zoo & Aquarium.
I got more up close and personal with tigers, lions, and giraffes than I have ever been in my entire life. I got to feed a huge tiger and a spunky giraffe, I got to watch the tigers swim and the lions feed, I saw gigantic snakes and watched a very cute sloth munch on veggies, I even got to see a rare miracle - a grizzly bear waking up from hibernation!
The closeness and behind-the-scenes access that this place provides for these amazing animals is extremely impressive, and you can tell how passionate the staff is about their work. It was a very magical day, and I will definitely be back again soon.
It was amazing driving through the Serengeti area and being able to see all the different animals in one shared enclosure.
All of the big cats were incredible. It was neat being able to see the tiger splash exhibit, and watching all of the big lions and tigers and mountain lion and everything eat.
I am in a mobility scooter, and was pretty impressed with the accessibility of the entire area. Their buses and tour vehicles are accessible, and I was able to load up in the vehicles in my scooter, which was nice. It might be a little bit difficult for somebody in a manual wheelchair because there is a lot of rock and dirt, but my electric scooter was able to go through most of it without too much problem.
Definitely would come back. Highly recommended for anybody who loves animals, and especially children.
Our tour bus guide Lucas, who told us he has been working for 5 months, was an absolute professional. He was very informative, animated with the animals, and really made the tour fun. He answered questions and told us some fun facts about the animals. Both drivers were awesome. Enjoyed our tour very much. Hold on to both of these guys. They are both great!
One of the standout attractions for us was the tiger show. Watching these magnificent creatures up close was both thrilling and educational. The staff did an excellent job explaining their behaviors and habitats, making it an engaging experience for our kids, ranging in age from 2 to 12.
The predator feed was another amazing experience that we absolutely loved. Seeing the powerful animals in action was exhilarating, and it offered a unique perspective on the animal kingdom that you won't want to miss. The bus ride through the park allowed us to get up close and personal with many of the animals, and the guides provided fascinating insights into their lives and the conservation efforts in place.
Overall, Out of Africa Wildlife Park is a must-visit for families of all ages. The combination of engaging shows, interactive experiences, and the chance to learn more about these incredible animals made it a day we will never forget. We can't wait to return and explore even more!

Remembering Pilgrim
May 26, 2001 – June 30, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Pilgrim, one of our most beloved animal residents, who has been part of the Out of Africa Wildlife Park family since 2003.
Born in 2001, Pilgrim lived to the extraordinary age of 24—making him one of the oldest male giraffes in the United States, far surpassing the average life expectancy of 15 years for males in human care. Over the past two decades, he became a cornerstone of our park and a quiet, comforting presence for guests and caregivers alike.
Known for his calm demeanor and thoughtful nature, Pilgrim was more than just a familiar face—he was a gentle ambassador for his species. His cooperation in voluntary medical training made it possible for his care team to support him through his senior years with dignity and compassion. From 2019 to 2024, Pilgrim regularly participated in twice-yearly standing sedations to address age-related hoof overgrowth and foot issues. His trust in his team enabled us to care for him with minimal stress and maximum safety.
In 2024, as his willingness to enter the restraint chute declined, our team made the careful decision to perform anesthesia to continue treating a painful hoof abscess. Over the months that followed, signs of age-related decline—including weight loss and slowing mobility—became more apparent, despite active management for arthritis and other geriatric conditions.
On June 29th, we gathered a collaborative team of professionals—including veterinarians, farriers, and local fire department support, large equine rescue, and a crane operator on standby—to perform a comprehensive medical evaluation under anesthesia. During that exam, Pilgrim was found to have advanced dental wear and tooth loss, likely contributing to his weight loss. A targeted diet plan was initiated, and his hoof abscess was successfully treated. He stood after anesthesia on his first attempt and recovered smoothly—but passed away unexpectedly about 36 hours later.
Though his passing came as a heartbreak to all who knew him, Pilgrim leaves behind a powerful legacy. He will be missed, deeply & widely- but his impact will live on.

❤️ Wild about freedom? So are we. 🦁🦒

🦒❤️ Pilgrim Needs a Little TLC!
Hey friends — we’ll be closed this Sunday, June 29th while our tallest (and most lovable) resident, Pilgrim the giraffe, has a very important check-up.
Don’t worry — he’ll be back munching leaves and striking poses in no time!
The park will reopen on Monday, June 30th and Pilgrim would love to see you then.
Thanks for understanding — and send some tall thoughts his way! 💌
