Hi Keeper Cassity here 🙂 Ive enjoyed being around animals since I was born, being an only child my siblings were 5 labradors. Since then my love for animals has only grown and expanded to love all animals from large carnivores, Hoofstock, birds and currently a variety of small mammals. My first zookeeping experience was at the teaching zoo at moorpark college in californa where I learned about all kinds of animals and how to care for them properly. I am currently manager of the small mammals department enjoying everyday with the animals I love, everyday being a different adventure

Keeper Questions
-
What is important about birds in our ecosystem?
Birds are important in pretty much every ecosystem on the planet. One of their main jobs is seed dispersers. Especially in the rainforests – Macaws disperse seeds throughout the forests. Even Emus – they eat berries off of trees and shrubs, and well, it comes out the other end.
-
Do you have any animals that can do tricks?
The behaviors that we train at the park arn’t for tricks, they are for their health. For example, the raccoons will give us their hand – like Rocket, one of our Raccoons – for a treat. We will then be able to give him a nail trim. It’s a reward to be able to keep them healthy. For the birds we are working on different weighing and scaling as well targeting behaviors!

How do wildlife parks help with animal conservation?
Great question! The best way is through education. All of our animals are animal ambassadors for their species conservation – they are teaching everyone that we need all of our species on our planet.

What's the funniest thing Brisbane does?
Brisbane, when he starts running, looks like a giant feather duster. Can you imagine that?
Submit your questions!
If you love animals and have a question – ask! We would love to answer your questions about our animal friends and what it’s like to be a Keeper!
If you are a classroom, we would love to hear from you! Please submit your questions all on one form (attach below). List your teacher’s name, the school, the class and the town. Limit your questions to no more than TEN, and try to only ask about one animal or area of the park. IE: Mr. Smith’s 3rd Grade Class from Harrison Elementary in Denver Colorado, asking about lizards, or Jericho the Rhino, etc. We will let you know if your class is selected, and answer all your questions, in a special Keeper Korner!
