Giraffe Conservation Foundation
A Lifeline for Giraffes in Africa
The Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF) is the world’s only NGO solely dedicated to the research, conservation, and management of giraffes in the wild. With fewer than 117,000 giraffes remaining in the wild, immediate action is crucial. Giraffes are facing what experts call a Silent Extinction—a significant decline in their population that has largely gone unnoticed. Over the past 40 years, the wild giraffe population has plummeted by 30%.
Historically, conservation research on giraffes has been limited, but this is starting to change thanks to organizations like GCF. In an effort to raise awareness and celebrate these magnificent animals, GCF initiated World Giraffe Day. Held on June 21 each year—the longest day or night, depending on your hemisphere—this day aims to highlight the giraffe’s unique beauty and the urgent need for conservation efforts.
Join Us in Celebrating World Giraffe Day

At Out of Africa Wildlife Park, we’re committed to supporting giraffe conservation. Throughout June, our giraffe keepers will be selling special edition “I Kissed A Giraffe at Out of Africa” t-shirts. These unique shirts, available in new colors, will be sold for $33 each near the African Bush Safari line.
Every penny of the profits from these sales will go directly to the Giraffe Conservation Foundation. By purchasing a shirt, you’re not just getting a fun souvenir; you’re contributing to the vital efforts to save giraffes from extinction.
Join us this June in celebrating World Giraffe Day and support our mission to protect and preserve these incredible creatures.
