Ever wondered what happens at the park early in the morning before our guests arrive? In addition to feeding and cleaning, our hoofstock keepers have been hard at work training several of the animals to voluntarily participate in their own medical care. In this case, you can witness keeper Genesis’ progression with training Encore to voluntarily accept eye medication. Encore has something called Uveitis, which is an inflammation of the eye, and the best treatment for it when it flares is eye drops! It takes a lot of time, patience, and relationship building to work up to this, and this week, Genesis successfully squirted liquid into his eye with very little reaction! 👏🏼
