We receive many phone calls regarding service dogs. While we understand how important these animals can be, Out of Africa does not permit service dogs, emotional support animals, or pets of any kind within the park. Weโd like to take a moment to explain why.
Domestic dogsโregardless of training or temperamentโare naturally perceived by many of our animals as either predators or prey. Their presence, scent, or sound can trigger fear, panic, or defensive behaviors in prey species, and aggressive or territorial responses from apex predators such as lions, tigers, and hyenas. Even minimal exposure, such as an unfamiliar scent, can disrupt animal behavior and create unsafe conditions.
Out of Africa is a unique, immersive wildlife experience with open animal exhibits, safari-style tours, and close proximity to large predators. Our trained staff regularly work inside shared spaces with these animals, and any unexpected reaction caused by a dog could result in serious injury or worse.
Additionally, introducing domestic animals poses disease and biosecurity risks, as many of our exotic species lack immunity to common illnesses carried by pets.
For these reasons, we maintain a strict No Pets or Service Animals policy. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
